Julia Pastrana was born in the mountains of Western Mexico in 1834. Her life was defined by her appearance. At 4 feet 5 inches tall and 112 pounds in weight, her entire body was covered with hair except the palms of her hands and the soles of her feet. Her peculiar looks were a result of a rare congenital condition known as acromegaloid hypertrichosis syndrome, which covered her body with thick hair and caused unusual facial features, including abnormally thick lips and a large jaw. 
Julia gained success as a performer, variously known as “the Ape Woman” or “Baboon Lady.” Her debut took place at the Gothic Hall on Broadway in New York City in 1854. She wore a red dress and sang Spanish songs while dancing the Highland Fling. In January 1860, while she was in Moscow, she gave birth to a baby boy who died only two days later. Three days after the boy’s death, Julia herself passed away and the last words on her deathbed were: “I die happy. I know I have been loved for myself.”

Our A3 posters are printed onto high quality photography paper using a high quality digital printer, and sent in durable cardboard rolls so that they reach you in pristine condition.

These posters are meant to be affordable reproductions of vintage posters that are rare and hard to acquire elsewhere. We endeavour to digitally restore our images to the best of our ability, but please remember that some of these images are over 100 years old and will show signs of ageing and have the odd crease.  Our posters look great on the wall but may not stand up to a thorough examination. I fully admit the small print may be blurred and slight pixelation may occur on certain prints. These are fun items, not works of art. 

Also note that on certain movie posters, visible folds or tears are to be seen. This is due to the originals being sent in this state to the movie theatres or railway stations when released.

All images will have a white border as this is neccessary in order for the print to be in proportion.

There may be instances where small print is illegible, or there may be some blurring or pixelation on certain prints. PLEASE NOTE that they are not fine art prints, or highly detailed works of art.

Because of the age of some of our posters, a few small imperfections may be reproduced. These should be visible by looking at the larger images within this listing. Some prints may have marks or creases as a result of this. Paper can often degrades with time, and sometimes an image reproduced from the original that may reflect this.

 IMPORTANT ROYAL MAIL TRACKING The vast majority of our items are sent via Royal Mail. A tracking number will be added to your order details and forwarded to you on despatch. We have had numerous complaints that Postmen are not leaving cards when customers are not in. This now seems to be the norm. It is the customers responsibility to check the tracking and see if an item needs collection or redelivering. These items are generally returned to us after a month after which we will invoice you again to reship the item.
